Community Kids Award

Encourages primary schools to develop or take part in projects contributing to the safety and security of their school, community or environment. It recognises children’s unique problem-solving abilities towards traditional community problems.

2018 winners - Caladenia Primary School

Caladenia Primary School was recognised for its Road Safety program. The school showed great initiative and worked within the school and with external agencies to improve road safety and educate their peers. The road safety education has covered the importance of wearing helmets while using bicycles and scooters, the need for road users to be more patient and the dangers of distracted drivers on the road.

Who is Eligible?

Nominations are open to a primary school or individual classes in the City, which develop projects to make their neighbourhoods better places to live, work and play. These could include:

  • Programs addressing safety in and around schools
  • Community respect programs
  • Conservation and environmental programs enhancing the physical environment of the school,


  • 1st -    $1,000.00 + plaque
  • 2nd -   $  800 + certificate
  • 3rd -    $  700 + certificate


Entries can be submitted any time during the year with submissions closing at the end of September. Award presentations will be announced in November followed by a presentation to winners by the City of Gosnells Mayor.

Nominated projects must be operating during the past year. A summary of the project should be outlined in no more than 500 words for each question and where applicable, include supporting material such as photos, media clippings, pamphlets etc. 

Applications will only be eligible for one category per program. A separate application form is required for each entry. Previous winners are not eligible to nominate the same project for a period of 3 years.
