Getting started with Libby (1:29)
Library members with a City of Gosnells library card have free access to thousands of e-books, audiobooks and magazines for all ages and in many languages through Overdrive's Digital Media Collection or via “Libby”, Overdrive’s one-tap app. There is even an Overdrive Kids catalogue that provides a safe and easy browsing experience for children. Kids can browse, sample, place holds and borrow eBooks appropriate for their age range and reading level.
Library members can borrow up to 10 items at a time, and select their own loan period of 7, 14, or 21 days. Members can place a hold on items that have a waiting list, and even browse and sample thousands of digital titles to recommend to the library for purchase.
The OverDrive collection is available on a wide range of devices and computers, although titles are not compatible with Kindle devices at this time.
Streaming service Kanopy has been purchased by Overdrive and now appears in the Extras section of Overdrive’s Libby app. The Kanopy app and all the ways to browse, stream, and enjoy videos from Kanopy remains unchanged. Library members can stream videos in the Kanopy mobile app, on the web, or via Roku, Apple TV, and other Smart TVs. Access via Libby is simply another way for users to discover the service. Existing Kanopy users sign into Kanopy with the same login credentials they use today. New users who discover Kanopy through Libby will be prompted to create an account with Kanopy.
Libby members can also join the Libby Book Club for WA and be involved in monthly online discussions with best selling authors.
