Accessibility resources

All our libraries are accessible by wheel chair or gopher, and a wheelchair and tri-walker are available for use within the libraries in Thornlie and Kenwick, and at the Knowledge Centre in Gosnells.

The "Merlin" at the Knowledge Centre can enlarge text or objects by up to 66% and can even invert colours. It’s quick and easy and is great for reading the daily newspapers!

Each library has a substantial collection of novels and non-fiction in large print and on disc (CD or MP3) which can be borrowed.

There is a free home delivery service for members experiencing difficulties in visiting a library due to health reasons, or a free bus transport service for those with transport difficulties. Follow the link below to Accessibility Services.

Self-loan kiosks

Kiosks are available at Knowledge Centre, Thornlie and Amherst Village libraries for library members to issue items to their own cards. The kiosks can be used in a variety of languages: Arabic, Bahasa (Indonesian), Bahasa (Malaysian), German, Greek, Hebrew, Indian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Maori, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Vietnamese, English…and Pirate English.

Information on other relevant services and resources available through the City can be found by visiting the People with a disability or Seniors pages.

If you would like to receive information about library events and services by email, you can sign up for the e-newsletter.
