Sutherlands Park funding - Web Feature Article graphic.jpg

Sports project needs your support

The community is being urged to show its support to redevelop Sutherlands Park into a state-of-the-art sports and community facility, as part of a new campaign to secure Federal funding for sports infrastructure.

The City of Gosnells is one of 11 local governments advocating the Growth Areas Perth and Peel (GAPP) campaign to raise awareness about funding shortfalls for sports facilities in outer metropolitan growth areas.

By 2025, the City is proposing to deliver a $119.6 million transformation of the 68 hectare Sutherlands Park site in Huntingdale to provide indoor and outdoor swimming facilities, a community centre, sports fields, a playground, dog park, skate park and picnic areas.

Funding the project will be a significant challenge and the City is calling on residents, community and sports groups, schools and businesses to help lobby for Federal funding by supporting the GAPP campaign at www.gapp.org.au

Simply click on ‘Support us’ and leave a message about why you think Sutherlands Park should be redeveloped.

The proposed project, which will cater for multiple sports and a rapidly growing community, will provide vital facilities for:

  • Organised sport

  • Meeting space for community groups and business

  • Commercial leasing opportunities

  • School swimming and interschool sports

  • Social and recreational hub

The City will keep the community updated about the project and GAPP campaign, however you can call 9397 3000 or email council@gosnells.wa.gov.au to find out more.
