The $6.5 million dollar redevelopment of Robinson Park in Gosnells will begin in early 2020, following the appointment of a construction contractor at the 17 December City of Gosnells Council meeting.

Council awarded the $4.5 million tender for construction to RJ Vincent, who will transform the 5.6ha site into a stunning community park and housing estate.

Construction of a new play space, off-leash dog exercise area and 42-lot residential subdivision is expected to start in February.

Mayor David Goode said the improvements would provide a great place for families and dog lovers and create new options for homebuyers.

“The Robinson Park redevelopment is one of the City’s biggest park projects for 2020,” Mayor Goode said.

“The City is able to fund large-scaIe park redevelopments like this because profits from the sale of home sites will offset the cost of upgrading the park area.”

Mayor Goode said developing lots around the park also allowed for an increased level of security and safety for park users, once homes were built to overlook the park.

As well as park-front residential lots, the new-look Robinson Park will also feature a children’s playground, barbecues, a basketball half-court, seating, lighting, public toilets, street parking, a dog exercise area, tree plantings and extensive landscaping.

The project is expected to be completed by September 2020 and will provide a great new space for community events, such as the City’s Park Play activities, while giving local residents and dog lovers access to a high quality park.

“Robinson Park will be closed for the redevelopment work, and I encourage regular park users to visit some of the City’s many other beautiful parks during this time,” Mayor Goode said.
