Shake off the winter blues and listen to music from 1960s surf culture at the Don Russell Performing Arts Centre on Saturday 3 August.

Internationally renowned electric violinist Rupert Guenther will perform with an all-star band, playing the music of The Shadows and famous instrumentals from 1960s surf culture.

This music came to epitomise the soundtrack of many people’s lives as well as the beach lifestyle of the era.

Riding waves, days in the hot summer sun and nights relaxing under the stars are captured in hits such as Apache, Sleepwalk and Wipe Out.

City of Gosnells Mayor Glenn Dewhurst said the performance is sure to warm up the crowd.

“Rupert Guenther has performed with music greats including Olivia Newton-John, the Beatles’ producer Sir George Martin, John Farnham and Demis Roussos,” he said.

“With a talented backup band, Rupert will use his skills on the electric violin to create an engaging and family friendly show.”
