City of Gosnells employee Tom Hastings was named Human Resource Management Practitioner of the Year by the Institute of Public Administration Australia WA last week.

Mr Hastings, the City’s Manager Organisational Performance, was recognised by the Institute for driving “positive organisational change at the City of Gosnells, which has provided the City with a … more efficient structure and staff who are focused on a clear set of values to guide their actions.”

Mayor Glenn Dewhurst said the Institute’s recognition of Mr Hastings was well deserved.

“Congratulations must go to Tom on this significant award,” Mayor Dewhurst said.

“The skill, understanding and leadership shown by Tom during the City’s recent staff realignment was key to its success.

“This more efficient structure will hold the City in good stead for all our future challenges and achievements, and will better allow the City to continue to provide quality facilities, infrastructure and services to our community.”

Mr Hastings said he felt honoured by the recognition.

“Staff were involved in the organisational values and realignment project, contributing suggestions and ideas on how we could best work together to meet the community’s needs,” he said.

Mr Hastings has worked at the City of Gosnells since 2015.
