Work is nearing completion on the City’s $4 million upgrade of Spencer Road, Thornlie to improve safety and ease congestion for the 20,500 daily users.

City of Gosnells Mayor Glenn Dewhurst said the 12-month project had progressed well and was on-track to be ready by April.

“This project was a big undertaking, given the amount of people who use Spencer Road every day and the number of connecting and side roads where residents could be affected,” he said.

“The patience shown by motorists and local residents throughout this process was very much appreciated and I’m sure they’ll agree the end result is a huge and necessary improvement.”

Asphalt and kerbing works are now complete, with concrete works, footpaths, general clean-up, line-marking and installation of new street lights remaining.

Additional minor road works will be completed by June and the median and verge landscaping has been planned for the winter months.
