September seniors events

The City of Gosnells will take residents from rubbish to riches this September, with two events for residents aged 55 and over.

Join Switch your thinking for ‘Talking Rubbish’ on Tuesday 4 September to investigate ways to reduce household waste, recycle correctly and declutter responsibly. Have your questions answered about waste and recycling and get practical tips from the experts on re-use, upcycling, recycling and responsible disposal.

Then fill your ears with Cash on Wednesday 19 September, as one-man-band Monty Cotton showcases the greatest hits of ‘the Man in Black’, Johnny Cash. This activity is designed for seniors who wouldn’t otherwise enjoy music performances because of transport issues. There are limited places and a door-to-door bus service is provided for those who need it. After the show, audience members will enjoy lunch, before being returned home.

City of Gosnells Mayor Glenn Dewhurst said ensuring local residents are active and engaged in the community was important at any age.

“These September events are a great example of how varied the City’s activities for our senior residents are,” he said.

“We know many of our residents are seeking information about waste and recycling, and our Talking Rubbish event will provide a great opportunity to ask questions in a positive and welcoming environment.”
