A week of events and workshops for families, parents and carers will help to improve the lives of local children, as part of National Child Protection Week next month.

City of Gosnells Mayor Glenn Dewhurst said everyone in the community had a part to play in protecting children.

“When we support families and build a stronger community, we create safer environments for children,” he said.

“These fun events will allow children and their parents to learn important information about safety and protective behaviours. Even small actions can improve a child’s future.”

On Monday 3 September, families can book into a protective behaviours puppet theatre show presented by Constable Care, or parents can take advantage of a Cyber Safety Parent Workshop.

A Body Confident Children and Teens parent workshop, run by The Butterfly Foundation, will take place on Tuesday 4 September before a Bonding with Books session for children aged 0 – 5 years old and their parents, on Thursday 6 September.

National Child Protection Week runs between 2 and 8 September. For more information about the City of Gosnells National Child Protection Week events, visit www.gosnells.wa.gov.au or call 9397 3000.
