Canning Vale residents now have a new community space, with nature play and wetland boardwalks at Emerald Park.

The $700,000 development by the City of Gosnells is a welcome improvement and will give the community a place to play, socialise and exercise.

City of Gosnells Mayor Glenn Dewhurst said Emerald Park would also be a great place for community events such as a children’s ‘play day’.

“The park was designed to showcase the area’s natural elements, with environmental zones and a nature-based playground, using existing materials from the site,” he said.

“We’re very pleased to have this project completed, particularly with the warmer months approaching – it will be a great place for local residents to come together.”

The new play area features climbing logs and a saucer swing, which have been built alongside the existing playground, as well as a barbecue and seating.

A large grassed area provides space for casual sports and there are footpaths, lighting, seating and native landscaped gardens, with new tree plantings.

Drainage improvements and irrigation were also part of the project.
