Work to refurbish the Nicholson Road timber bridge in Langford is underway.

The City is contributing $311,000 towards the $1.2 million dollar project, which is being delivered by Main Roads WA and is expected to be completed within the next four months.

The refurbishment includes replacement of steel half-caps from the old timber beams to allow for the replacement of the bridge piles, all of which stand in water.

Mayor Glenn Dewhurst said the bridgework is not expected to cause disruptions for motorists or cyclists.

“As our residents will be aware, the bridge can get busy, especially during peak hour,” he said.

“Bridge users can be assured that there will be no lane closures during the day and peak periods, and that all works are being completed under full traffic loads,” he said.
