New roundabout to improve traffic flow on Fremantle Road

Published on Wednesday 20 November, 2019

The City of Gosnells is advising motorists about upcoming roadworks to remove traffic signals and install a roundabout along Fremantle Road at George Street in Gosnells.

Traffic volume in Fremantle Rd has reduced over the past 10 years, and the traffic signals have been found to be holding up traffic rather than improving flow.

During the roadworks, motorists will be able to move through the intersection following direction from the traffic controllers.

City of Gosnells Mayor David Goode has thanked road users for their patience while the works are underway.

“While drivers may be inconvenienced for a few months, the result will be well worth it as the roundabout will improve traffic flow and stop motorists having to unnecessarily wait at the traffic signals,” he said.

The work is expected to commence in January 2020 and will take about three months to complete.

The project costs $420,000 and is jointly funded by the State Government and the City of Gosnells, with the City contributing one third of the total cost.
