Burslem Drive in Maddington will be safer for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists, as the City of Gosnells prepares for a multi-million dollar upgrade of this busy road.

Community members are currently being asked to have their say on the first stage of the project, which will start this year, from Attfield Street to the Olga Road roundabout.

City of Gosnells Mayor David Goode said the first stage, costing $3.6 million, was part of a bigger project to upgrade Burslem Drive from Albany Highway to the bridge near the South Metropolitan TAFE’s Thornlie campus.

“Funding has been secured for the first stage of the project and this is planned for completion this year, however the remaining work will be carried out over the coming years.

“With more than 12,000 vehicles using Burslem Drive each day, the City is committed to improving the safety of this road and would like community feedback on a number of key aspects of this project to ensure the project is a success,” he said.

“We’re particularly keen to hear from people in relation to the underpass at Herbert Street and the introduction of cycle and pedestrian crossing facilities.”

Information has been sent to nearby residents and business operators, however anyone who uses Burslem Drive is encouraged to provide their views on the project via the City’s Your Say online consultation hub.
