The City of Gosnells will use a $50,000 State Government grant to support work to upgrade Appledore Street Reserve, in Beckenham.

The Local Projects, Local Jobs funding is part of a program to award grants to community organisations to assist with upgrades to facilities and expansions of programs.

Mayor Glenn Dewhurst said the City planned to use the grant to formalise the edging around the existing playground at the park, provide a shelter with seating, and pathways.

“The City takes great pride in the quality of the beautiful parks and reserves we provide for our community,” Mayor Dewhurst said.

“We appreciate the generosity of the McGowan Government in awarding this grant as the upgrading of Appledore Street Reserve will make a big difference for the many families who use the park.”

Cannington MLA Bill Johnston said the grant recognised the City’s ongoing commitment to the upkeep of Beckenham’s parklands and reserves.

“I am pleased to be working alongside this dedicated organisation in preserving this outdoor space as a place for the community to enjoy,” Mr Johnston said.
