Homegrown smoothie workshop

Taste the excitement of the City of Gosnells’ 2018 Homegrown Festival, with a number of delicious food experiences on the table for community members.

From Kombucha tasting, to growing your own microgreens, sipping smoothies and enjoying sweet treats, the Homegrown Festival has all your tastebuds covered.

“If the way to Festival-goers hearts is through their stomachs, this year’s Homegrown is sure to be a success,” City of Gosnells Mayor Glenn Dewhurst said.

“As well as appealing to the tastebuds, this year’s food events will keep the rest of your body healthy and happy, with a focus on enjoying nutritious foods.”

Gastronomic experiences during the City’s month-long Homegrown Festival include:

  • Microgreens on Thursday 1 March. Microgreens are one of the hottest trends in home gardening. Learn to grown your own, so you too can create a gourmet garnish or salad.
  • Power-packed, delicious, healthy smoothies on Saturday 10 March. Learn about the nutritional benefits of consuming more fresh fruit and vegetables, and sample a delicious smoothie.
  • Sweet treat swaps on Wednesday 14 March. A nutritionist will teach you how simple swaps in your recipes can create delicious and nutritious treats. Includes a cooking demonstration and taste testing.
  • Kombucha presentation and tasting on Wednesday 14 March. Learn how to make this fermented tea drink, revered for its probiotic and detoxifying health benefits, and sample various flavours.

Other events to enjoy during Homegrown include a Glow Wheels Parade, performances at Don Russell Performing Arts Centre, wellness events, arts events, and plenty more. There are even some delicious food truck treats on offer at the Illuminate Night Party, Little Scribblers and Harmony Colour Run.
