Gosnells local Caitlin Parker has been proudly showing off a little extra bling since the Commonwealth Games, winning a silver medal in the women’s 75kg boxing.

City of Gosnells Mayor Glenn Dewhurst stopped by local gym Fox’s Den to congratulate her last week.

“My biggest congratulations goes to Caitlin and well done for all she has achieved representing Australia and our community at the Commonwealth Games,” he said.

“Success like Caitlin’s doesn’t come easily, it takes a lot of hard work and dedication, so she is truly someone to look up to in our community.”

Caitlin, who turned 22 this month, has received several City of Gosnells sports representation sponsorships throughout her career, assisting her to compete overseas and experience competition at a world level.

Currently training at the Australian Institute of Sports, Caitlin is home for a short while to reflect on her games experience and spend time with family and friends, before heading back to Canberra and back into training.

“Having the Aussie crowd behind you during the games was awesome, and to be chosen as team captain was a pretty big honour for me too,” she said.

“2020 is the next big goal, and I won’t be stopping until Tokyo.”

Caitlin’s other goals include finding regular sponsorship while training for the Olympics.
