Free balance bike workshops for children

Published on Monday 6 January, 2020

Help your child become a confident and safe bike rider at a series of free balance bike workshops being held in February in the City of Gosnells.

The workshops, facilitated by Bikewise, are aimed for children aged between three and 8 years and will be held at Mills Park in Beckenham.

Balance bikes are designed to teach children how to balance and control a bike before pedaling, and encourages a child to graduate to a two wheeler bike with pedals, without the use of training wheels.

City of Gosnells Mayor David Goode said the workshops are a great way for children to learn a life-long skill, whilst getting active in a safe environment.

“Riding a bike is not only good for our physical and mental health, it’s also a lot of fun and a great way to be active as a family and explore the City’s wonderful bike path network.

“These workshops will allow children to gain the confidence and skills needed for an activity they can enjoy for the rest of their lives.”

Parents or guardians are required to supervise their child for the duration of the workshop and are welcome to register to more than one workshop.
