Pancake Fest

You ‘butter’ be ready, because Youth Week WA is set to be celebrated in the City of Gosnells with skating, art, music – and pancakes.

Between 1.30pm and 5.30pm on Thursday 12 April and Friday 13 April, children and young people can join in Positive Pebble Painting workshops at Maddington Centro.

Then between 10am and 2pm on Saturday 14 April at the Mills Park Skate Plaza, the City will celebrate the contributions of young people in the community with the Pancake Youth Fest, as part of Youth Week WA.

The Pancake Youth Fest is a family friendly event that is open for all ages and includes live performances and skate, music and art workshops. There will also be giant inflatables, amusements and, of course, free pancakes.

The pebbles that are painted as part of the preceding days’ art workshops will also be used to make a large community artwork at the festival.

City of Gosnells Mayor Glenn Dewhurst said young people were sometimes portrayed negatively in society, but the City wanted its young residents to be engaged and involved in the community.

“We have heaps of opportunities for young people to be actively involved in our community in the City of Gosnells,” he said.

“The City-run GozYac and the Skate Park Advisory Group provide great opportunities to have your say on issues that affect local young people, or you can join in the many programs and events run by the City each year.”

The Pancake Youth Fest is sponsored by the Department of Communities.
