Artworks from emerging and professional artists, from the local area and further afield, will be on show at the City of Gosnells 2021 Community Art Exhibition and Awards from 22 – 28 May.

The event offers a prize pool of $10,000 across 10 categories, with winners to be announced on Friday 21 May and a free exhibition to run until Friday 28 May.

Mayor David Goode said the overall winning piece would be acquired for the City’s art collection, with the artist to receive $5,000 prize money.

“The art community was particularly affected by COVID-19 and, after the cancellation of last year’s event, it’s wonderful to once again celebrate the talents and contribution of our artists,” he said.

“We encourage people to come along to the free exhibition and vote for their favourite artwork in the Primewest People’s Choice Awards, and perhaps even purchase a piece of art to take home.”

A $500 prize will be awarded for the Primewest People’s Choice Award and for each of the remaining categories, including acrylic, oil, photography, Youth Award and a special one-off award Celebrating 60 Years.

The exhibition will be held in the Lyal Richardson Hall at The Agonis in Gosnells, with most of the artwork available for purchase.

“Each year the Community Art Exhibition and Awards surprises us with the depth of talent and broad range of artworks and subjects, which makes the exhibition an event not-to-be-missed,” Mayor Goode said.
