City of Gosnells residents are being reminded to keep themselves and their property safe and secure over the holiday season.

The Keep It Secure - Don’t take a holiday from home security program was developed by the City and is supported by police officers from Canning Vale, Cannington and Gosnells police stations, and focuses on home security over holiday periods.

“As we approach the festive season, it’s the right time to start thinking about the measures to take to keep our homes safe and secure,” Mayor David Goode said.

“The Safe City team and local Police have some great tips about simple ways residents can avoid becoming a victim of burglary.”

Senior Sergeant and Officer in Charge at Canning Vale Police Station Quentin Flatman said it is important residents keep doors and windows locked and valuables out of sight to prevent break-ins.

“Make sure you are aware of any parcel deliveries that you are expecting, and if you have a Christmas tree, avoid displaying it in the front window with gifts placed beneath it,” he said.

“It’s also important that neighbours look out for each other and report anything suspicious to police on 131 444.”
