Crazy Arms musical journey

Published on Wednesday 5 September, 2018

Journey through time in a musical adventure with piano-playing funny man Damon Smith, whose show Crazy Arms looks at piano music through the ages.

From the birth of the piano in 1709 and the first piano composition ever written, to delicate sonatas, ragtime, finger-busting boogie-woogie and classic rock ‘n’ roll hits, Crazy Arms has it all.

Performing at the Don Russell Performing Arts Centre on Saturday 13 October, at 7.30pm, Damon Smith is well known to regular patrons from his popular touring show The Sun Rising Band.

Crazy Arms features ripping yarns and virtuosic piano tinkering inspired by some of the great musicians who have ‘tickled the ivories’ through the ages, including Liberace, Jerry Lee Lewis, Mozart, Beethoven, Ray Charles, Fats Domino, and many more.

“The piano is such a key instrument in a huge range of musical styles, so Crazy Arms promises to be a fantastic and varied show, with something for everyone,” City of Gosnells Mayor Glenn Dewhurst said.
