Community creation on display

Published on Wednesday 29 August, 2018

A mural created by community members has been installed at the Thornlie Library this month.

Designed by artist Melski and completed during interactive community painting workshops at the Little Scribbler’s Festival last March, the mural brings fresh colour to the library this winter.

Participants in the Little Scribblers’ mural each chose one hue, and used a paint-by-numbers approach to create a vibrant, science-themed explosion of colour.

City of Gosnells Mayor Glenn Dewhurst challenged those who took part in the mural’s creation to see if they could find the sections they painted.

“Most participants in the community painting workshops at Little Scribblers saw the mural unfinished, and it looks fantastic now that it’s all complete,” he said.

“The mural is a bit like our community – we all contribute a little part, and together we make something great.”

Little Scribblers was proudly sponsored by Primewest and presented by Act Belong Commit.
