Members of the public are encouraged to come along to a series of events throughout October as part of Community Safety Month.

The City of Gosnells has partnered with a range of organisations to help residents increase their awareness of how to be safe in our community.

Topics covered throughout the month include personal safety, home and vehicle security, and cyber safety.

Mayor Glenn Dewhurst said Community Safety Month starts with a Street Meet and Greet event on Thursday 3 October in Thornlie. “This is a great opportunity for residents to meet their neighbours and take part in crime prevention activities, such as learning how to report suspicious behaviour, vehicle security, number plate anti-theft screw fitting and the chance to speak with local police,” he said.

“The City will also host a free sausage sizzle and there will be entertainment for the kids, so I encourage families to come and make an afternoon of it.”

Other events include a Constable Care child safety foundation performance, a cyber safety for parents presentation and a safety workshop for seniors.

The Gone in Less than 60 Seconds promotional vehicle will also be appearing at various local sporting ovals throughout the month of October.
