Community Art Exhibition soon open

A range of artistic talent will soon go on display as part of the City of Gosnells Community Art Exhibition and Awards.

Awards will be presented in 10 categories, including the $5,000 Overall Award (Acquisitive), and the exhibition will take place from 15 – 21 June, in the Lyal Richardson Hall at The Agonis, in Gosnells.

All artworks are available for purchase, and visitors to the exhibition can vote for the Primewest People’s Choice Award.

Mayor Glenn Dewhurst encouraged community members to visit the exhibition.

“The City of Gosnells Community Art Exhibition is a wonderful way for emerging and professional artists to showcase their talent,” Mayor Dewhurst said.

“This year, the City received more than 200 entries in a wide range of mediums, including oil, acrylic, pastel, pen, watercolour, photography and more.  

In addition to the Overall Award (Acquisitive), $500 cash prizes are awarded in nine other categories, including: Acrylic Award; Pastel Pencil, Pen and Watercolour Award; Oil Award; Photography and Digital Media Award; Mixed Media and Three Dimensional Sculpture Award; Youth Award; The City in Focus Award; Local Artist Award and Primewest People’s Choice Award.

Award winners will be announced on Friday 14 June, apart from the Primewest People’s Choice Award, which will be announced after the exhibition closes.

Registrations are also open for a series of free community art workshops and events, which run during the week of the Community Art Exhibition. These include children’s textile art, paint pouring, an artist networking and information session and a Ghost stories event.
