Artworks from emerging and professional artists, from the local area and further afield, are now on show at the City of Gosnells 2021 Community Art Exhibition and Awards.

The event offered a prize pool of $10,000 across 10 categories, with Award winners announced on Friday 21 May and a free public exhibition to run until Friday 28 May.

Mayor David Goode congratulated Simon McArdell for his outstanding entry, Ghost, deserving of the overall acquisitive award and $5,000 in prize money.

“Simon’s beautifully rendered painting was selected by the City’s Public Art Committee not only for his clear artistic skill, but for his elegant and mysterious subject choice and composition,” he said.

“I’m once again impressed with the diversity of works and artistic talents on display at this year’s Community Art Exhibition, and I urge everyone to take a moment to enjoy the works on display and vote for their favourite artwork in the Primewest People’s Choice Award.”

Winners of the Award categories each receive $500. They include:

  • Acrylic – Vaughn Roberts
  • Pastel, Pencil, Pen and Watercolour – Migara Ramanayake
  • Oil – Zainub Khan
