Residents have more time to enjoy a walk or jog outdoors, or kick a ball with a family member, with the switching on of the floodlights at four City of Gosnells parks.

From 6pm until 8pm each evening, the lights will be switched on at Walter Padbury Reserve in Thornlie, Langford Oval, Reserve B at Sutherlands Park in Huntingdale and Gosnells Oval.

Mayor David Goode said the initiative is another way the City is supporting residents during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation.

“With gyms and sporting facilities currently closed, more residents are exercising in public open spaces,” he said.

“By switching on the lights at these sporting groups, we are giving community members more opportunities to exercise outdoors for longer.

“Just remember to please adhere to social distancing measures and don’t use sports equipment or playgrounds at any of the sites, which remain closed until further notice.”
