City of Gosnells Manager Planning Implementation Luke Gibson has been named Young Leader of the Year by the Institute of Public Administration Australia (IPAA).

The IPAA represents public servants in the Local, State and Commonwealth government sectors, plus other not-for-profit and community based organisations, and Mr Gibson’s award was presented at its annual Achievement Awards event in Perth.

City of Gosnells Mayor Olwen Searle said Mr Gibson was nominated for the award for his continual enthusiasm and innovation in the area of planning implementation.

“Mr Gibson’s efforts are particularly evident in his direct supervision of land acquisition activities in Central Maddington and Beckenham, where the City is rolling out new infrastructure and open spaces to rejuvenate the local communities,” Mayor Searle said.

“His enthusiasm and innovation can also be seen in his supervision of the City’s statutory planning functions.”

“I congratulate Mr Gibson and those people who work closely with him for this great achievement.”

Accepting the award at the event attended by more than 300 senior officers from Local and State Government sectors, Mr Gibson acknowledged the great support and cooperation of his team members as key to his success.
