A special visitor will be bringing cheer to the homes of families in the City of Gosnells this Easter weekend, as part of the City’s Home But Not Alone initiative.

On Saturday from 8am until 4pm, the Easter bunny will be hitching a ride on the back of five City of Gosnells Volunteer Bushfire Brigade trucks and delivering chocolate eggs or small gifts to those waiting in the driveways of homes.

The City’s fire trucks will sound their sirens to alert children of their arrival. Families in small cul-de-sacs and narrow laneways are asked to come to the entrance of their street, while respecting social distancing, as the size of the fire trucks makes it challenging for them to manoeuvre into and out of these streets.

Mayor David Goode said parents can be assured the Easter Bunny would practise social distancing and has reminded children, and the young at heart, to do the same.

"Come out onto your driveway and wave to our wonderful Bush Fire Brigade volunteers and the Easter Bunny, who will be asking children to remain on their driveways so we can all stay safe.

“The COVID-19 pandemic means Easter will be celebrated differently this year but we are doing all that we can to help bring joy to the lives of our residents during this challenging time.”

The City’s Home But Not Alone initiative is a series of online and interactive events dedicated to boosting community kindness and bringing people together through shared online experiences.
