Chris Goldberg has won the main prize in the City of Gosnells Community Art Exhibition and Awards for the second consecutive year, with her realistic piece titled ‘If only’.

Judges said her artwork demonstrated a stunning technique that captured the character of the subject.

Mayor Glenn Dewhurst presented Ms Goldberg with the $5,000 Overall Award (Acquisitive) at the City’s Community Art Awards ceremony on Friday 14 June.

“It was terrific for Chris to win again and be acknowledged in this way for her incredible talent,” he said.

“More than 660 people attended our exhibition this year and voted for the Primewest People’s Choice Award. Their favourite was ‘Come Fly with Me’ by Toni Lyn Avis, which also received a $500 City in Focus Award.

“Congratulations to all of our winners and thank you to all the artists who contributed to make this year’s event such a success.

“It was great to have such a strong representation from our local art community, with more than half of the 230 entries by local residents.”

As part of this year’s Community Art Awards and Exhibition, sponsored by Primewest, the City hosted a number of associated events and workshops, which were well attended.
