Celebrating families in the City

Published on Wednesday 8 May, 2019

The City of Gosnells will be celebrating National Families Week with a series of events, workshops and activities for families of all shapes and sizes, between 15 and 21 May.

Mayor Glenn Dewhurst said it was the fifth consecutive year the City had taken part in the national celebration, and this year’s theme ‘Stronger Families, Stronger Communities’ was particularly relevant.

“We know providing opportunities for local families to spend quality time together and learn important skills, leads to healthier and happier families, and better wellbeing in our community,” he said.

“We have lots of really exciting family events, parent workshops, park plays and library activities planned, culminating in a free Celebration of Families at Mills Park, in Beckenham, on Tuesday 21 May.”

Celebration of Families will feature giant bubble play, the EcoFairies activity marquee, Old Macdonald animal farm, cubby building with Educated by Nature, Arty brellas and the park play trailer filled with giant games and messy play.

Other National Families Week events in the City include gardening for grandparents and grandchildren, storytime activities, a family dance party, dinosaur park play, Sibling Shenanigans, Creative Space for teens, a suicide prevention workshop and more.
