Life’s about to get a whole lot brighter if you skate, scoot or BMX at Mills Park Skate Plaza in Beckenham.

The City of Gosnells will soon install LED lights to improve safety and security at the popular skate park, following requests from parents and users.

Mayor Glenn Dewhurst said the City received a positive response to a recent community survey about the project, which was expected to begin in May to June.

“Four light poles, each with two lamps, will be positioned in such a way to ensure maximum lighting to the plaza area without imposing on nearby homes,” Mayor Dewhurst said.

“A timer will also mean the lights are only switched on when the plaza is in use, and turned off at a set time.

“This is a terrific safety improvement for those young people using the park and will create new event opportunities for the City’s skate program.”
