Sports clubs in the City of Gosnells are being urged to take part in a survey about their club’s sports participation and facilities.

The survey will be on the City’s website from Monday 2 to Friday 20 July and will contribute to the City’s Sports Plan, which will support future decision making about the provision and upgrade of local sports facilities.

City of Gosnells Mayor Glenn Dewhurst said the survey was essentially seeking information on how the City could future-proof its sporting community.

“We want to know where people are playing sport, what those sports are and whether participation is growing,” he said.

“The City is particularly keen to align clubs to current sports trends – we want to ensure that clubs are well positioned to benefit from areas experiencing population growth or a boost in the popularity of their sport.

“The overall Sports Plan will enable a more consistent approach to sports provision while delivering a range of sporting opportunities for the community.”

Through the survey, the City hopes to gain a better understanding of club operations, their growth and any challenges they’re facing to ensure the City can meet their future needs.

“I strongly urge our sports clubs to have their say – their involvement is vital for the success of local sport and ultimately the wellbeing of our community,” Mayor Dewhurst said.

Details of the survey have been emailed to all Clubs and copies are available on the City’s website. To complete the survey online, please visit www.gosnells.wa.gov.au or call 9397 3000 to request a hard copy.
