100 Years of the History of Dance

Published on Wednesday 4 September, 2019

Get ready for a night of dance, as a physical performance blending dance and theatre arrives at the Don Russell Performing Arts Centre in Thornlie on Friday 20 September.

100 Years of the History of Dance follows a schoolboy, Jacob as he presents a report on the history of dance.

The one-man play explores the lives of influential choreographers, including Martha Graham, Merce Cunningham, Bob Fosse, Rudolf Nureyev, Pina Bausch, Lloyd Newson, Gene Kelly and Paula Abdul.

“This high energy performance is bound to have audience members dancing in their seats,” Mayor Glenn Dewhurst said.

“Ballet, jazz, hip hop, modern and contemporary dance are all addressed, and performed to wonderful original music by Italian film score composer Enrico Melozzi,” he said.
