Copies of local newspapers are in the Local History Collection and include:

  • Comment News Community Newspaper from 1983 to 2018.
  • The Examiner from 1997 onwards (sets may not be complete).

Newspapers are not for loan, they may only be used within the Local History Collection, and a photocopier is available for you to make copies for a small charge.

There are also copies of thousands of newspaper clippings from the West Australian and Daily News newspapers from the 1950s to the 1980s, grouped thematically in the Local History Collection files for easy reference.

Thousands more articles printed in other newspapers from the 1830s to the 1950s are available in a condensed form, integrated into the Local History Collection files. For further research many historic newspapers are becoming available through the National Library of Australia’s website.
