With collections to suit all ages, Thornlie Library is a great place for a family visit.

Thornlie Library stocks over 40,000 items, provides access to many resources and offers various services and programs for adults, children, and teens throughout the year. 

The majority of library services require you to be a member but the good news is that it’s free to join!

Book Club at Thornlie Library

Book Club at your library

Adults who love reading and like to chat about the latest book they’ve read will enjoy the monthly Book Club sessions held at each library. Books may be borrowed from the library or members can supply their own. 

Sessions run on the first and second Tuesday of each month, 6.30 - 7.30pm at the Thornlie Library. If this time doesn't suit you, there are alternative sessions available at our other libraries.

Colour therapy club at Thornlie Library

*Due to Australia Day Public Holiday on the 26th of January this class will be moved to Thursday the 28th of January

Colouring-in for grown-ups!

Rediscover the simple pleasure of colouring in. It’s relaxing, stress-relieving and fun.

Fees: This is a free event, bookings are essential and refreshments will be provided.

English Conversation Classes at Thornlie Library

English Conversation Classes are a free English ‘chat’ class for people wanting to improve their conversation skills. Although the format mainly caters for migrants, anyone interested in gaining confidence in speaking English is welcome to attend.

Sessions are run weekly during school terms on Wednesdays, 10am - noon. The Wednesday class is a mixed-gender class. A women-only class is available on Fridays. Contact the Library for more information and to reserve a place.

Family Rhyme Time at Thornlie Library

Family Rhyme Time (Ages 1 - 3 years)

The Family Rhyme Time Program uses rhymes, songs and stories to foster positive communication, enjoyable interaction and fun times between parents and children. Parents attend the program which runs during the school term to learn the pleasure and magic of storytelling, nursery rhymes, lullabies and songs which are shared at the group sessions with their baby or toddler.

Sessions are free, and run weekly during school terms on Mondays, 9.30 – 10am. For more information about this program contact Thornlie Library on 9251 8750. 

Parents please note that under the Children and Community Services Act, children under 6 years old must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times.

Suitable for children aged 3 – 5, parents are encouraged to bring their children to this free event.
