Opened in September 2009 this library has been a hit with the local community; in the first 12 months the library was visited by more than 75,000 people. Amherst Village Library is housed in the Amherst Village Community Centre.

The library boasts an outdoor reading area. Come and enjoy the ambience - do some study, relax with the latest newspaper or just catch up with friends.

Art Nook

This cosy area at the Amherst Village Library exhibits works by local artists. Exhibited during August were art works created by students from Canning Vale College.

Children's Area

Kids will have a great time in the children's collection.

There are all sorts of items available for loan as well as many programs your child is welcome to attend.

E-Zone

This area includes free Internet and PC access for library members. Printing and photocopying  is also available for a small charge.

The E-zone also incorporates two Wii gaming consoles and lots of games to play within the library. Library members may book the Wii for an hour (conditions apply). Tournaments and contests are held throughout the year, details of the next session will be placed on the What’s on @ your library page, or you can search for it via the Events listing.

Meeting room

A small room is available at the Knowledge Centre, Amherst Village Library  and Thornlie Library for community groups to meet, free of charge (conditions apply). If your group doesn't meet these conditions, the rooms may also be hired for a small charge.

Enjoy songs, stories, nursery rhymes and craft activities. These fantastic story time sessions for pre-school children are a special treat for mums, dads and grandparents as well.

Sessions are free, and run weekly on Wednesdays from 9.30am-10am (except during school holidays).  No bookings necessary

Family Rhyme Time at Amherst Village Library

Family Rhyme Time (Ages 1 - 3 years)

This program is fully booked for Term 1 2014

The Family Rhyme Time Program uses rhymes, songs and stories to foster positive communication, enjoyable interaction and fun times between parents and children. Parents register to attend the program which runs during the school term to learn the pleasure and magic of storytelling, nursery rhymes, lullabies and songs which are shared at the group sessions with their baby or toddler.

Sessions are free, but registration is essential.

Sessions run weekly during school term only.

Session details will be provided upon registration. To register, please add your details to the online form below  and a Young People’s Services staff member will call you to confirm your registration. Book now, as sessions fill quickly!
