Need financial assistance to join a sporting club?
What is KidSport?
KidSport makes it possible for children to participate in community sport and recreation, no matter their financial circumstances. KidSport allows eligible youth aged 5 - 18 years to apply for financial assistance to contribute towards club fees.
A maximum of $200 per child is available and will cover the cost of fees (registration and game fees, uniforms and equipment) to join a nominated sport and recreation club.
Am I Eligible?
To be eligible, applicants must be a resident of the City of Gosnells, aged between 5 and 18 years and have either a Health Care or Pension Concession Card. If the applicant is unable to provide a Health Care or Pension Concesssion Card then the applicant can be referred by an approved referral agent.
We will accept registrations from applicants that join clubs up to the half way mark of the sporting season. Retrospective applications are not eligible (applicants that have already commenced playing the current season).
How can I apply?
Residents can apply by downloading the KidSport Application Voucher and submitting it to the City by either:
- Mail to the City of Gosnells, PO Box 662 GOSNELLS WA 6990
- Hand deliver to the Civic Centre, 2120 Albany Hwy, Gosnells.
Successful applicants will receive their validated voucher to then submit to their club.
How are payments made?
If successful, payments are made from the City directly to the applicant's nominated sport and recreation club.
Where is my nearest sport and recreation club?
There are currently over 100 sport and recreation clubs in the City, to find your nearest club click the "Clubs online and Kidsport website" link below.
Have you considered volunteering?
Without people volunteering sport and recreation clubs would not be able to operate. The City encourages recipients of KidSport and their parents or guardians to offer the time and expertise that they have available to assist their club.
Information for clubs
Upon receiving a verified KidSport application voucher (KidSport stamped and signed by a City Officer), clubs are encouraged to process the applicant as per the clubs registration process.
The club is to invoice the City for the costs associated with the KidSport funded applicant joining your club (up to $200) and send to the City along with the verified application voucher.
We will raise a purchase order and your club will be paid via Electronic Funds Transfer. Payments generally take between two and four weeks upon the City receiving an invoice.
For more information see the KidSport Fact Sheet for Clubs.
Information for referral agents
Referral agents can be part of the KidSport program by targeting children who are not members of a sport and recreation club due to financial reasons or other identified reasons.
Referral agents assist with the identification of children to benefit from KidSport and the payment of club fees. Referral agents can also assist with the completion of application forms and their lodgement with local governments on behalf of parents.
For more information see KidSport Fact Sheet for Referral Agents.
To become a registred referral agent with the City please complete the Referral Agent application form and email.
Information for schools
Schools, as referral agents, can help to promote KidSport to their students by linking with the City to access application forms or include information in their school newsletters. Schools can also assist with lodgement of application forms with local governments on behalf of parents.
