NAIDOC Week 2017

Community members are invited to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures at one of the many activities in the City of Gosnells as part of NAIDOC Week.

Between 2 July and 9 July, the City of Gosnells will join the rest of Australia by taking part in NAIDOC Week festivities, starting with an official flag raising ceremony on Monday 3 July at the Civic Centre.

This year’s NAIDOC Week theme is Our Languages Matter – the importance, resilience and richness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages.

Several events will be held locally, including art exhibitions, an interactive art performance, workshops, children’s activities, storytelling and a breakfast.

An art exhibition showcasing the works of local Aboriginal artists will be on display at the Amherst Library throughout NAIDOC week, with artworks available for purchase. Selected artworks will also be available to view at the City of Gosnells Civic Centre during office hours.

Families are also invited to explore Aboriginal culture through a range of activities including sports and art, storytelling sessions and more. Click here for a full run down of the events.
