Month of May-hem for seniors

During May, there is no shortage of activities for people over 55 years in the City of Gosnells.
On Tuesday 16 May, the City will host Kayaking on the Swan from 10am to noon at Hardey Park in Belmont, where the kayaks will be launched and instructors will lead the group on a leisurely paddle.
No previous experience is needed but participants must be able to swim. The cost is $15, including equipment hire and bookings are essential and can be made after 8am on Wednesday 3 May by calling 9391 6030.
On Tuesday 23 May, local seniors can follow in the footsteps of Perth’s first settlers on a guided walking tour of historic landmarks in Guildford, a National Trust Historical Town.
The area offers a wealth of heritage buildings and a layout that has barely changed across the centuries.
A moderate level of fitness is required for this event, which runs from 9.30am to 2pm and costs $20, including travel to Guildford, the tour and lunch.
The group will travel by bus from the City’s Addie Mills Centre at 2 Astley Street, Gosnells. Bookings are essential and will be taken from 8am, Wednesday 10 May by calling 9391 6030.
On Wednesday 31 May, seniors can find answers to some of those niggling health questions at the City’s Did you know? Health Expo from 9am to 4.30pm at the Mills Park Centre in Beckenham.
This event will feature a range of informative workshops on various health topics and lifestyle issues, including gender-specific cancers, bowel cancer and screening, diabetes, strokes, heart health, mental health and more.
Participants can attend one of the talks or stay for the whole day. Bookings are essential for catering purposes and will be taken from 8am on Tuesday 2 May, by calling 9391 6030.
